The third Forbidden Door event is scheduled for June 30, 2024, at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York. The show will feature talent from AEW, NJPW, STARDOM, and CMLL. They did even more work to the card this week.

MJF is set to compete at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, and his opponent has seemingly been revealed. The Salt of the Earth had been sidelined due to injuries since Samoa Joe dethroned him at AEW Worlds End. The former AEW World Champion returned at AEW Double or Nothing and had his first match back on the June 19 episode of AEW Dynamite, where he faced former ROH World Champion RUSH.



After the match, Brian Cage and Gates of Agony appeared on the video screen, alongside Hechicero, and spoke on behalf of The EVPs. They revealed that Hechicero would be MJF’s opponent at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. However, the broadcast team noted that the match was not yet official.

Will Ospreay already won the Casino Gauntlet match, earning the right to challenge Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Championship at Forbidden Door. Those two will throw down at the event.

At Double or Nothing, Adam Copeland injured his leg, leading The Young Bucks to strip him of the AEW TNT Championship. Christopher Daniels, appointed as interim executive vice president, announced that the title would be decided by a ladder match at Forbidden Door, with participants qualifying through various matches.

Mercedes Moné defended the AEW TBS Championship on May 29 and was interrupted by NJPW Strong Women's Champion Stephanie Vaquer. They were scheduled for a Winner Takes All match at Forbidden Door. Moné retained her title against Zeuxis, ensuring both titles would be on the line. Mariah May, who signed with AEW in November 2023, was involved in a storyline with "Timeless" Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa, leading to a match at Forbidden Door for the AEW Women's World Championship.
