The Orlando Sentinel recently conducted an interview with ECW Champion Mark Henry. The champ discusses a number of topics including Summerslam, previous storylines including Mae Young and the "hand," as well as his incident with Michael Hayes. Below are some highlights, and you can read the entire article by clicking here.
Mark, are you looking forward to Summerslam this Sunday night?
Man, I’m looking for forward to Sunday night. To be able to go in to my first pay-per-view defense of my title - no other title in the world looks like this. Not only am I the world’s strongest champion but my title is the world’s best title. All you have to do is tune in to the pay-per-view to get a good look at it.
I know there were some things that went on right after WrestleMania with yourself and Michael Hayes. For anyone that doesn’t know, he is one of the top guys on the creative team backstage with the WWE. There were some uncomfortable things said and you decided to voice your displeasure with the company. Was it tough for you to come forward and speak about that which he was reprimanded for what he said?
Well, people that want to get into the negative aspect of what’s going on in any industry " that’s trying to sell newspapers, that’s trying to sell spots. Michael made a mistake, he paid for his mistake. He has been forgiven. I can’t go into all of that again because I’ve moved on myself but let’s just say that we’re all human beings and we need to treat people as such.
Are you still writing poetry?
That’s one of the things that I do to vent myself and keep myself from imploding. I write and it’s one of my favorite things to do. I try to keep everything on the down low.
