There is only one match scheduled for tonight’s edition of NXT but it’s arguably one of the biggest ever to air on a regular episode for the brand. Only one other segment has been confirmed for tonight’s show.

Just 13 wrestlers have won the NXT Championship belt. Only two men, Shinsuke Nakamura and Samoa Joe, have ever held the title more than once. Tommaso Ciampa looks to become NXT Champion #14 tonight.

NXT Preview 7/25

NXT Championship
Aleister Black vs Tommaso Ciampa

Tommaso Ciampa is arguably the most talked about heel in the business right now. He’ll have a chance to become the 14th champion in NXT history tonight.

As for the NXT Champion, Black defeated Andrade “Cien” Almas for the title in April. Since that time he has defeated Eric Young and Lars Sullivan in title matches.

Adam Cole Responds to Ricochet’s Call-Out

The inaugural NXT North American Champion, Adam Cole, was called out last week by Ricochet. The high-flyer has said Cole is not a fighting champion.

Since winning the championship over WrestleMania weekend in April, Cole has defended the title twice on WWE programming. He defeated Oney Lorcan in a title match just one week after winning it. He then defeated Wolfgang on night 2 of the recent United Kingdom Championship tournament shows.

As for Ricochet, he’s yet to lose a single’s match in NXT yet. After 8 matches he is 4-3-1. His losses were in a multi-person ladder match he did not win, a 2-on-1 handicap match loss to Lars Sullivan (Velveteen Dream was his partner) and a 6-person tag to Undisputed Era while teaming with Moustache Mountain. His single’s wins have been over Fabian Aichner, Donovan Dijak, and the Velveteen Dream. He teamed with Aleister Black once to defeat EC3 and the Velveteen Dream as well. He also went to a no-contest with Velveteen Dream once.
