Fans should not be surprised to see Carlito resurface on WWE programming in the near future, after signing a new deal.
This week, it was reported that Carlito has signed a new contract with the promotion, following his one-off appearance at WWE Backlash 2023. At the Puerto Rico event, Carlito aided Bad Bunny during his match with Damian Priest and the Judgment Day. Carlito wore an LWO shirt at the event, fueling speculation that he could be a regular member of the faction moving forward.
Carlito recently informed Great North Wrestling EVP Jack Kilby to inform him that he would not be available for their upcoming show on July 16, due to re-signing with WWE. Carlito stated that it would have been a violation of his WWE contract to appear at the event in Smiths Falls, Ontario, and returned his deposit for the show.
Carlito was in Florida several weeks ago on WWE business, and is currently closing out his independent dates. In addition to withdrawing from Great North Wrestling, Carlito has been pulling out of signings and appearances set for this summer, adding more credence to reports of a WWE deal.
At this time, Carlito has not been added to the internal roster within WWE. The report mentions that the former U.S. and Intercontinental Champion received a massive reaction at Backlash, which led to him being on the company's radar for a long-term plan. Many in WWE were said to be impressed which how much Carlito has matured since his first run with the promotion.
